HTS  – Innovation by new materials and technologies

Adelwitz Technologiezentrum GmbH (ATZ), established in 1992, with 20 years background and experiences on superconductivity (A-15 structures, Chevrel phases) is a European superconductivity company in the world-wide continuously growing HTS market. The strong connection and competence in material science resulting in a flexible HTS processing together with the availability of system technologies for module and component fabrication is unique. The innovative and enduring concept is based on in-house developed melt texture temperature gradient processes (Ceramo Crystal Growth – CCG) to grow bulk materials in polycrystalline and single crystal domain structure. In ATZ sinter technology and crystal growth processes are successfully combined.

Application

The advantages of such fabrication and processing as company competence are evident: Economy and flexibility in HTS textured material and transfer from R&D direct into pre-industrial technologies.

Hence, with this company strategy the new superconducting materials can be provided and delivered to a wide spectrum of scientific, technological and industrial customers.

Market

HTS Market expectation and analysis show a broad and innovative potential with a high degree of industrial spreading and application starting in the middle of this decade (Weissbuch, Göttingen 2002). The new HTS technology is basically hardware and will contrast the flood of IT developments at the beginning of this century with many new and well- educated places of employment. Flexibility and cooperation will be the keys for technological and economical success.
